My Thoughts
When Disney's Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition arrived it was immediately the topic of discussion at the dinner table that night. As an 'older' Disney Princess I am always ready to talk fairy tales. No surprise there, right? My husband and son who are on the other end of the fairytale fan spectrum showed a keen interest and remembered quite a bit from the original movie. Each one of us hadn't seen in it many many years. Trying to remember scenes was a challenge. The kiss and Maleficent on the bridge stood out. Everyone knew the titles to the songs but only my husband knew the words to each. We were all anxious to experience Sleeping Beauty once again with the digitally restored picture and sound. So, we chose it as our movie for Saturday Night at the Movies. To celebrate I decided to give everyone the royal treatment with a royal feast of roast beast (beef) for dinner, serving drinks in goblets and having movie popcorn in silver bowls.Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition did not disappoint. Magical memories flooded back as the music started and the credits rolled. Back in 1959 movies showed credits first, something I wish they would bring back. I think it builds excitement as well as showing respect and giving proper credit to the talented artists who created the movie.
Seeing the movie in HD with all the new enhancements was fantastic. The sounds are so clear and crisp and the colors jump out at you. I had forgotten just how magnificent the music was. The song, 'Once Upon a Dream' had me humming along and it stayed with me. I had forgotten how funny and sweet fairies Flora, Fauna and Merriweather were and impact of seeing the terrifying Maleficent was. I even spotted a few Hidden Mickey's I had never seen before that I'll share on Hidden Mickey Monday.
Now for a few fun printables!
