I really enjoyed reading  The Customer Rules: The 39 Essential Rules for Delivering Sensational Service It's a wonderful resource book for anyone who is in business, provides a service or who interacts with the public at any level. From management to those responsible for hiring and firing. That pretty much covers everyone, right?
Mr. Cockerell uses humorous storytelling to convey his rules. I was able to read it in two sittings. The time flew by and I learned a lot. You'll find 39 chapters, each of which describes one of the rules Mr. Cockerell developed through over 40 years of experiences working in hospitality industry.
A few of my favorite rules:

  • Rule #3: Great Service Follows the Laws of Gravity
  • Rule #5: Ask Yourself "What Would Mom Do?"
  • Rule #19: Be a Copycat
