Fabulous First Day Food and Wine Festival Experiences

Epcot Food & Wine Festival

I am so looking forward to this year's Food & Wine Festival. My son and I had an an amazing time last year sipping and sampling new foods that we normally wouldn't try at home and revisiting festival favorites.
We enjoyed being at the festival for opening day and all the festivities and excitement surrounding it but even more fun was  being there the day before the official opening.
The morning of the soft opening we went to Animal Kingdom and then around lunch time we headed to the festival. It was perfect timing as the kiosks were just setting up and we were hungry.

First stop was to pick up our gift cards wristlets. They were having problems with the plastic connectors coming apart but after the first day the problem was fixed and a whole new batch was available. These are the handiest to have. Not only is it a souvenir that can be used year round but you can budget yourself, which we did. With our cards filled we headed toward the World Showcase and following the wafting smells of tasty foods cooking in the kiosks.

Just as we entered the World Showcase there was Terra with a fabulously healthy vegetarian menu just ready for us to taste. Peter chose the Trick'n Chick'n Curry with Basmati Rice featuring Gardein Chick'n Breast for $3.75 (1 DP snack credit) and I chose Chili Colorado with Home-Made Chips  and Cashew Cheese featuring Gardein Beefless Tips for $3.75 (1 DP snack credit). I passed up the Paul Dolan Sauvignon Blanc wine that is offered as an accompaniment. Too hot and sunny for wine tasting on that day. I'd get back to it later in the week.

All was incredibly delicious although a bit spicey. Terra left us longing for more of the same but we were on a mission to eat our way around the World Showcase so we forged on to the next booth that would offer a refreshing drink and nourishment, The Caribbean.

The Jerk Spiced Chicken Drumstick with Mango Chutney was finger licking good but the best and most refreshing drink of the week was the Bacardi Frozen Dragon Berry Colada for $7.75.
Over the next week we would stop at The Caribbean kiosk and sample a few more of them which can be gotten without the rum.

After our scrumptious soft opening lunch it was time to go see Donald Duck in Mexico.

Have a magical day,
