Favorite Disney Bakery

Tops on my list is Disney's BoardWalk Bakery which is conveniently located downstairs from our Disney Vacation Club home resort, The BoardWalk Villas and The BoardWalk Inn. This is one of the few bakeries on Disney property that you can watch professional bakers prepare and bake cakes, muffins, cupcakes even wedding cakes!

A family vacation tradition started with The BoardWalk Bakery many years ago.
Each morning one or two of the boys in our group wakes up early, grabs our refillable mugs, room card key and does what we call the "Bun Run" down to the bakery to bring back delicious freshly baked treats for the family.

My husband was the one who started it and still does it's just the two of us.
In the wee hours of the morning they stand in the long line chatting with other guests watching the bakers in the professional bakery prepare delicious desserts for the hotels and shops in the BoardWalk area until it's their turn at the placing an order. That's the toughest part for the boys as everything looks and smells delicious. They usually bring back an assortment of muffins and danish along with steaming cups of much needed coffee.

My favorite is the baseball size blueberry muffins but I can never finish a whole one in one sitting. I save mine for an afternoon snack. The boys on the can eat a baseball size muffin and still go out to breakfast.
You may be wondering why we don't make our own coffee in the villas. They do provide a machine and coffee. Well, besides the water in Disney World being awful tasting for coffee, my sons and nephews love this tradition and it gives us grownups time to get ready for the day. My youngest son (with ASD) was so happy and proud of himself when he was old enough to do the "Bun Run" himself.
The BoardWalk Bakery is also a great place to take a break from the parks, have a light lunch or grab a *real* breakfast. Their egg, bacon croissant sandwich is fabulous and sandwiches are delicious! Their are many meal and snack offerings to choose from that are on the DDP. Seating is outside but limited to a few tables and chairs. Within a short walk there are benches, tables and chairs along the BoardWalk. You can see the menu here.

Have a Magical Day!

  2. Lol, that is funny! The Boardwalk Bakery has something for everyone! Since they make it right there, they could probably tell you which treats have less cinnamon.
