The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is hosting an "egg-tra" special Easter egg display
Easter is celebrated in a number of ways at Walt Disney World Resort, but this year a new celebration is taking place at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Easter is celebrated in a number of ways at Walt Disney World Resort, but this year a new celebration is taking place at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
In fact, you might even say this is an “eggs-elent” way to celebrate.
This year, the lobby of the Grand Floridian will feature its first large-scale Easter egg display. But these eggs aren’t like the ones you might hide in your backyard. The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa pastry chefs hand-decorated these edible (chocolate!) Easter eggs into quite “eggs-eptional” works of art.
In previous years, eggs were on display at various Disney Resort hotel restaurants. In order to make sure Guests could enjoy the complete display, all of the eggs have been moved to the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa this year.
Are you b”egg”ing for some fun facts? Well, here you go!
–It took 19 Cast Members three weeks to paint and decorate the Easter display.
–The hollow ,chocolate eggs weigh between nine and 12 pounds (that’s a lot of chocolate!) and are 16-20 inches tall.
–Each egg is uniquely decorated with edible products, such as modeling chocolate, fondant, sugar floral, royal icing, colored cocoa butter and sculpted sugar art pieces.
–Even the chocolate bunnies are hand-painted with colored cocoa butter and decked out in festive themes.
Special thanks to CM Marissa and Community Manager from Disney InsidEARS for sharing her experience and pictures from this beautiful display with us!!
Have you seen the egg display at the Grand Floridian?
I haven't and a little disappointed I didn't seen them when I was there for Easter in 2010 staying at The Yacht & Beach Club. Had I known I would've gone on an Easter egg hunt while resort hopping.
Hoppy Spring!

I’m amazed at the detail that went into these works of art. Each egg has its own whimsical theme and looks just like a real egg (just a little larger)! Will you or any of your online friends be making a trip to see the “sp-egg-tacular “display? Be sure to let them know so they can take part and enjoy the debut. (And by the way, please excuse all the “egg” references and new words. Someone egged me on.)
